One of the attractions of the Sculpture Festival is the exhibition of Nikoloz Kandelaki's sculptures. The foundation and growth of Georgian sculpture owe a great deal to Nikoloz Kandelaki (1889-1970).
Nikoloz Kandelaki has made significant contributions to education in Georgia. He taught at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts from 1926 until the end of his life. His school produced several generations of sculptors who went on to play crucial parts in the development of Georgian sculpture.
The exhibition will feature up to 30 of the sculptor's works. Significantly, this is his first post-Soviet exhibition.
