Georgian Architecture – Christian Heritage

March-May, 2024

The educational project 'Georgian Architecture – Christian Heritage' was successfully implemented with the support of the Patriarchate’s Public Relations Service. The project focused on the theme 'The Role of Christian Art in Georgian Culture' and included lectures and guided tours of the historical monuments of Tbilisi.

The project aimed to deepen the understanding of Georgian sacred architecture and its historical, artistic, and spiritual significance. Schoolchildren aged 12-16 participated in lectures about the history of Georgian architecture and the role of Christian art in shaping the nation's cultural identity. Students also had the opportunity to explore architectural landmarks such as Anchiskhati, Metekhi, Kashveti, the first building of the National Library, and others.

Through this initiative, students gained a greater appreciation for Georgia’s rich cultural heritage and Christian architectural traditions. They also learned the importance of preserving cultural monuments and deepened their understanding of the connection between history, architecture, and art in shaping Georgian identity., This project was implemented over a three-month period and provided valuable educational experiences for students, promoting the protection and appreciation of Georgia’s cultural and historical legacy.
