Student Sculpture Symposium

15-18 October, 2024

The 2nd Student Sculpture Symposium was a key part of the second phase of the Sculpture Festival 2024. The exhibition showcasing the sculptures created during the symposium, which opened on October 15, has now concluded.

This year’s symposium, lasting two months, brought together sculptors, architects, and art historians who collaborated in interdisciplinary teams. The theme of the symposium, "Innovative Sculptural Projects for the City of Tbilisi," guided participants in developing six distinct projects. These projects included sculptural designs, architectural renderings, and art-historical analyses for pre-selected locations in Tbilisi.

The exhibition, held at the Merab Berdzenishvili International Cultural Center "Muza," allowed the public to experience these innovative projects firsthand. Additionally, visitors could explore the projects virtually through QR codes placed at selected locations around the city, adding a digital dimension to the event. The symposium’s collaborative approach highlighted the intersection of sculpture, architecture, and art history, offering valuable insights into contemporary urban sculpture trends and creative problem-solving.

The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Tbilisi City Hall, various art organizations, and members of the artistic community, including sculptors, art historians, and students.
